New car brands often take time to get established and become successful in sales and also as a household brand name. What is a Genesis? Who makes it? What are they like? Genesis is the premium brand offered by parent company Hyundai. Think of it like Lexus is to Toyota or Lincoln is to Ford. The name Genesis is more recently associated with a two door rear wheel drive sports coupe made by Hyundai from 2008 to 2016 as well as a Genesis 4 door sedan from 2009 till 2015. Hyundai decided to discontinue the name as a model and use it as the Brand. Genesis is certainly not off to a slow start in the automotive market. They currently have three models with three more on the horizon. The G80 was the first stand alone Genesis and the platform was carried over from the Hyundai days. The all new G70 was introduced for 2019 and has won J.D. Power and Associates awards as well as top Safety Picks by IIHS for crash worthiness and Car of Year by Motor trend Magazine. The car was quoted as being better out of the gate than a BMW 3 series. It looks like the upscale automakers really have a challenge on their hands and that battle has now come to Saskatoon. The just arrived and completely new G90 was also in the showroom as guests enjoyed a great evening of appetisers and drinks and mingling. The G90 is absolutely stunning in person and includes features you would only expect to find on high end luxury rides like a Bentley or Rolls Royce. The rear passengers have powered seats including powered headrests and powered sunshades all around. Riders are surrounded by leather, suede, the finest carpet and open pore real wood trim. I just need to get it out for a test drive now to experience the 5.0 litre V8. The red carpet rolled out in front of the dealership was certainly not out of place for the evening!
One of the biggest surprises to most potential buyers is what separates the Genesis experience from other upscale auto dealers and builders. Genesis Canada focuses on the owner with incredible tailored customer service including pick up for all services with a complimentary loaner car provided and all basic maintenance is included in the price of a vehicle for 5 years or 100,000 kms. Meaning no budgeting for oil changes for a long time!
FFUN Motor group also surprised the audience Wednesday night with the announcement that a stand alone Genesis studio will soon be built seeing as currently Genesis’ are sold and maintained out of the Saskatoon South Hyundai dealership.
